Lisa's Journey: Overcoming Legal Barriers, Skepticism, and Fears

Lisa's Egg Freezing Journes shared with Fyrce Care

Get to know our Co-Founder Lisa a little bit better and hear the story about her very own egg freezing journey.

At what age did you freeze your eggs?

32

What were your main reasons for freezing your eggs?

I have a diagnosis of Uterus Bicornis, which increases the risk for miscarriages. Add that to my happy life as a 32-year-old single, and freezing my eggs felt like a way to hold onto my options—to preserve my egg quality and fertility potential for a later time in life, and to lower the social pressure.

How did you first hear about egg freezing?

The first time I heared about egg freezing was in a social media ad, which honestly struck me as weird. But then Johanna shared the Fyrce Care egg-freezing guide, and when I read it out of sheer interest I realized—this could be something for me.

Did you prepare before starting the process?

I did some reseach but quickly realized there’s no “one-stop-shop” for egg-freezing info. I turned to UK and US podcasts and articles to learn more. In hindsight, I wish I’d known sooner about how nutrition, supplements and sports can boost both well-being and results—Fyrce Care would’ve been a game-changer back then!

Were there any barriers or challenges you faced before starting?

Since I’m Austrian, the biggest barrier was the legal restriction—social freezing is a no-go here unless you have a serious medical condition like cancer. When I started telling people, I got hit with skepticism: "Why don’t you just find a boyfriend?" or "Are you doing this because there’s so many kids around you?", “Wait, why would you want to do this – when your body says it’s enough, you might just need to accept that”. So, I decided to navigate it solo, taking trips to a clinic near the Austrian-German border. The process there? Let’s just say they expected a “husband” to be in the picture and required his signature on some documents where the part with “fertilization” was just crossed out.

Did you have any fears to overcome before starting?

My biggest fear was stepping into the clinic—it felt like admitting failure. I failed my lifeplan and my body failed me. But then I realized I’d just bought myself a huge dose of flexibility.

How did you feel during and after the procedure?

I felt fantastic during the procedure itself, with no major side effects. Bonus: triple-sized boobs from the hormone therapy! Afterward, though, my period hit harder for a couple of months, and I went through some intense PMS mood swings, which I usually don’t get. Those only improved once I stepped up my vitamin supplement game.

Has this decision influenced your life plans? If so, how?

It lifted so much of the pressure around “settling down.” I didn’t plan to make big changes, but then I got the chance to join Johanna’s movement to make egg freezing accessible for all. Now, here I am.

What does egg freezing mean to you personally?

It’s been a game-changer, the moment I started talking about my procedure with others it connected me with incredible women who’ve either gone through it or are thinking about it. I became an “egg-freezing ambassador” before even realizing it—now, with Fyrce Care, I’m super excited to share my own experience and redefine the future of fertility care together with Johanna.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Absolutely—I’d have dialed in my nutrition, taken the right supplements, and searched harder for a community of women who’d gone through this. Having that support would have made a huge difference for me.

Would you freeze your eggs again?

ANYTIME.

What advice would you give to other women considering it?

Egg freezing is a medical treatment—it comes with side effects, risks, and limitations. But if you want to live your life on your own terms this might just be the right choice for you. Reach out to Fyrce Care, and let’s make sure your egg-freezing journey is one you’ll always feel good about.
